VBS ATHENS was a huge success!

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped, taught a class, led a group, wiped noses, gave financially, or simply prayed that God would be made real to these kids this week.  It worked.  Thank you.

We are already beginning the early planning for next years VBS (can you believe it?).  But parents, remember that KIDS CAMP is happening next month and there is still time to get your child signed up to go with us to Camp Clements.  Make sure you stop by the Resource Center in the foyer to get more info or to sign your child up.

We had so much fun this year, and we hope the below video gives you a glimpse into some of what we did this week!

Coming as no surprise to anyone, at the 2013 Crossfit Regional Qualifying Games some of our very own did incredibly well. Rich Froning came in first for the Central East, followed by Dan Bailey (2nd) in the Open Men’s competition.

The Crossfit Mayhem Team (including our Events Director, Thomas Cox) won first place in the team competition. Team members are Thomas and Jackie Cox, Darren Hunsucker, Jennifer Hoffman, Lauren Neal, and Ben Rogers. Congrats to all for qualifying for the nationals coming this July!

In an interview afterwards, Thomas Cox had this to say about the team’s efforts:

“You can always go harder and farther than you think.”

Every time the team trains, they practice two rituals.

“We pray together before we lift and listen to the Jesus Culture and Elevation Worship on Pandora,” Thomas Cox says.

The team agrees that keeping their focus on their faith is their “secret weapon.”

“We always pray before a workout because we know who our strength and abilities come from,” Sarah Rogers says.

Congrats to Rich, Dan, and all the Crossfit Mayhem team for their great performance!

Contemporary Christian musical group Shane & Shane came to Life Church Saturday, April 27, 2013 for a special concert event and also for Sunday worship services.
